Nel mondo della fotografia sei…

una fotografo con uno sguardo molto specifico per le sue foto che è  fatto di proposito. Qualcuno le cui foto rispecchiano più uno sguardo New Wave francese degli anni Cinquata e Sessantache; vero, con una bellezza naturale senza una grande produzione.

Con cosa scatti e qual è la tua pellicola preferita?

Scatto sia con Canon AE-1 Program o con la Compact Auto-Mat. Le mie pellicole preferite sono Adox CHS 100, Kodak TMax 3200 e la Rollei 400 RPX.

Com’è nata la passione per la fotografia e per la pellicola in particolare?

In un viaggio verso il Middle East. Ho comprato una Diana F+ e il risultato ha innescato qualcosa in me che mi ha fatto continuare.

Analogico perché…

perchè c’è un realismo e un calore che il digitale non può catturare. Perchè le persone sono belle e imperfette e anche le foto di conseguenza dovrebbero esserlo.

Hai un soggetto preferito?

Donne, preferibilmente senza nessuna esperienza da modelle. Le donne hanno una gamma maggore di emozioni ed espressioni facciali rispetto agli uomini. Le persone senza nessuna esperienza tendono a non essere così dure e permettono di mantenere la loro autenticità perchè non sono sicure di cos’altro fare.

Lo scatto perfetto…

Cattura la completa verità, intimità e trasparenza tra il soggetto e la fotocamera.

Qual è l’aspetto della fotografia analogica che ti affascina di più?

Lo sconosciuto. I felici incidenti che arrivano dopo lo sviluppo e lo sconosciuto di quello che stai riprendendo quando fotografi – una paura eccitante.

Un progetto futuro…

Continuare a fotografare e se tutto va bene qualche altro lavoro pagato cosicchè possa fare della fotografia il mio solo lavoro; ho un’esposizione di gruppo ed una solista il prossimo anno ma sto anche pianificando di fare un tour fotografico in Europa prima o poi.

Cos’è che ti rende felice della fotografia analogica?

Come già detto, gli incidenti felici. Qualche volta mi sento un tutt’uno con la fotocamera ed è come se la pellicola avesse una sua propria mente.

The photography world knows you as…

a photographer with a very specific look to my photos that are done on purpose. Someones who’s photos mirror more of a 50′s/60′s French New Wave look; real, natural beauty without a big production.

What type of camera do you use and what’s your favourite film?

I shoot on either a Canon AE-1 Program or a Compact Auto-Mat. My favorite films are Adox CHS 100, Kodak TMax 3200, and Rollei 400 RPX.

How did your passion for photography and analog photography begin?

On a trip to the Middle East. i brought a Diana F+ and the result triggered something in me to keep at it.

Analog because…

because there is a realism and warmth that digital doesn’t seem to capture. because people are beautiful and imperfect and therefore, photos of them should be the same.

Is there a subject you prefer?

Women, preferably without any modeling experience. Women have such a higher range of emotion and facial expressions versus males. People without modeling experience tend to not try so hard and just allow their authentic self to show because they aren’t sure what else to do.

captures complete trust, intimacy, and transparency between the subject and the camera.

What’s thing in analog photography that fascinates you the most?

The unknown. The happy accidents you get back after development and not knowing what you are actually getting as you shoot – an exciting fear.

Any plan for the future?

Keep shooting and hopefully get some more paid work so i could make photography my only job; I have a group show and a solo show set up for early next year as well as planning to try and take a European photo tour at some point.

What makes you happy in analog photography?

As i said earlier, the happy accidents. Sometimes i feel like the camera and the film have a mind of their own.
